Cary Lieberman, CAWA, Executive Director

Cary has been Greenhill's Executive Director since October 2007. Prior to that, he served 3 years as a member of the Board of Directors and spent a year as the shelter’s Development Director. In addition to his time at Greenhill, Cary has more than 12 years of volunteer experience in animal welfare in Eugene, working with various groups and volunteering at spay/neuter clinics. He brings extensive experience in marketing, public relations and non-profit development. Cary previously worked in the development office at the University of Oregon. In 2009, Cary received his designation as a certified animal welfare administrator.  Cary shares his home with his wife and three boys, and his companion dog, Murphy.  
 

Dr. Gail Schroder, DVM, Director of Shelter Medicine

Before joining the Greenhill staff, Gail was on the Board of Directors at Greenhill for almost 3 years, and a volunteer veterinarian assisting Greenhill for almost 6 years. She has also acted as the liaison between the Lane County Veterinary Medical Board and Greenhill. Gail has been a private practice veterinarian in the Eugene area since graduating from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Her special area of interest is with animals that have behavior problems. In her free time, Gail enjoys biking, bird-watching and movies. She and her husband share their home with their three cats.

 

 

Vicki Silvers, Assistant Director

Vicki has over 20 years of experience working in the public sector and she holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Oregon. Along with being physically active and raising 2 teenage daughters, Vicki keeps busy by volunteering for South Eugene High School, is chair-elect for the board of Planned Parehthood of Eugene, and is proud owner of Ruby, a lovely Boxer who is also a Greenhill graduate.

Denise Brittain , Community Outreach Manager

Denise Brittain brings nearly 27 years of experience in public service to her position as Community Outreach Manager. After earning a degree in Recreation and Park Management from the University of Oregon, Denise planned and managed many programs and events for Willamalane Park District and Springfield Chamber of Commerce. She is the proud owner of a dog, Bella, who is a Greenhill graduate, and three cats.

Jennifer Hilliard, Community Outreach Coordinator

Jennifer, a native Tar Heel who transplanted to Oregon in 2004, brings her 15+ years experience in the event management and food & wine industries to Greenhill as the Community Outreach Coordinator. Combining her passions for animal welfare and public relations/marketing expertise was a dream come true. “To do what you love and make a difference for the betterment of our community is a blessing”, she adds. Jen and her partner Ray also own and operate Capitello Wines winery & share their home with 2 cats, both rescues, sons Desmond and Owen, and daughter Olivia.

Tuesday Scott, Community Outreach Assistant/Customer Service Assistant

Tuesday began working at Greenhill after a year as a volunteer. She has also volunteered at the Cascades Raptor Center, Dona Ana County Humane Society and several small wildlife rescues. Tuesday received her B.A. of Science Zoology from Oregon State University in 2011. She enjoys serving animals who are experiencing transition periods in their lives and she loves to share in the joy of each new adoption.

Diana Huntington, Trap/Neuter/Return Coordinator

Diana has a long history of advocating for animals. She was one of the founders of and the facilitator for the Animal Welfare Network of Lane County and the Overpopulation Crisis Coalition, both formed to bring non-profit and government animal groups together to create dialogue and networking to address the needs of animals and their caregivers in our community. She was one of the organizers of the Eugene Feral Cat Coalition clinics and is a continuing volunteer for ProBoneO and Project Homeless Connect. She was a founding member of Community Veterinary Center and served as board president or vice president for 7 years. Her family includes two admirable dogs and five formerly feral cats.

Stana Knez, Development Director

Stana brings years of experience to her role as Greenhill Development Director. Originally from Tucson, Arizona, she studied Child Development and Special Education at Lewis and Clark and Colorado State University. Before joining the Greenhill staff, Stana worked as the Development Director at Birth to Three in Eugene. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, reading and volunteering for other non-profit organizations.

Mischa Davis, Development Assistant

Mischa's love of animals is a perfect fit for her work with Greenhill.  She get's her kitty "fix" most days with a visit to the cattery.  About 6yrs ago, she decided to re-focus her energy and talents in service to non-profits after a 20 yr career in the financial industry.  She has previously served on serveral area non-profit boards as well.  Mischa's other interests include gardening, hiking, reading, movies and enjoying nature.  She is also an energy healing practitioner with a deep commitment to assisting others on their journey to physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. 

 

Ashely Duke, Animal Receiving Coordinator

Ashely has worked in the veterinary field for 11 yrs, and is a licensed vet technician. She holds a BS in Public and Nonprofit Admin from UO and loves helping folks that come through the door at Greenhill find their perfect pet match.  She shares her home with 3 rescue pets, Dash, Phoebe & Rorschach. 

Mackenzie Barret, Customer Service Manager

Mackenzie comes to us from Colorado where she volunteered at Every Creature Counts Animal Sanctuary, the Peaceful Prairie Animal Sanctuary and the Vegetarian Society. She holds a BS in Legal and Environmental Science from the University of Alabama and an MA in Management and Communications from Webster University. 
Mackenzie shares her home with two rescued German Shepherds named Ariel and Harvey. She enjoys hiking with her dogs, reading, and going to used book sales. Mackenzie’s favorite thing about working at GHS is seeing all the animals go to their new homes.

Vali Gourley, Customer Service Assistant/Animal Care Technician

Vali started volunteering at Greenhill about two-years ago. When a cattery position opened up last year, the staff knew she would be a perfect fit. She has a cat named Stormy who is a beautiful white cat with one blue eye and one green eye. 
 

 

Kristi Chizacky, Volunteer & Foster Care Manager

Kristi's love for animals brought her to Greenhill as a volunteer before joining the staff as the Volunteer/Foster Care Assistant. Kristi grew up in New Jersey, and spent a few years in North Carolina, before moving to Eugene. She received a B.S. in Communications from Syracuse University, and began her non-profit career as an events manager for the American Cancer Society. Kristi and her husband, Jay, share their home with one dog, a hamster and a snake. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with Jay, walking their dog, riding horses and traveling.
 

 

Katy Colburn, Volunteer & Foster Care Asstistant

Katy grew up in rural Michigan where she started volunteering at the age of 12 when she took her dog, Winnie, to a local long-term care facility to visit with residents who were unable to keep pets. Since then, she has dedicated herself to volunteering with a variety of organizations including The American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Americorps. She relocated to Eugene three years ago bringing her two cats, Curtis and Ruka, and her husband, Mike. Since moving to the northwest, she has received her BA from Washington State University in Social Sciences with concentrations in Sociology, Human Development, and Fine Art. In her free time, Katy enjoys spending time with her family as well as sewing, canning, soap making, and crocheting.

 

Gordon Upward, Maintenance

A native Eugenian and lifelong animal lover, Gordon came to Greenhill in November, 2010.  When he's not spending time with his teen daughter at the coast, or looking after his 5 chickens, 1 pig, & 3 cats, Gordon is busy completing the long list of shelter projects and repairs.

Kimber Elliot, Kennel Manager

Kimber holds an AAHA Management Certificate and has over 20yrs. experience in veterinary hospital management. Her favorite aspects of her job at Greenhill are the shelter’s commitment to the community and her daily interaction with visitors. Kimber has two dogs at home, a terrier/border collie mix named Dodger and Syd, a Pit bull/border collie mix. When Kimber isn’t at Greenhill she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, gardening, sewing and candle making.

 

Ryan Halley, Animal Care Technician, Kennel

Ryan hails from California where he received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University. He worked with children with Autism before becoming a member of the GHS kennel staff. “I love working with dogs and I think everyone here at Greenhill really does their best to care for the animals and find them loving homes,” he said. When not working, Ryan enjoys music, photography, cooking and daily bike rides.

 

Alex Taylor, Animal Care Technician, Kennel

Alex has always worked with animals, including Oregon State University Small animal teaching hospital, Oregon Zoo, & Wildlife Safari in Winston, OR.  She received her degree in Zoology from OSU and loves working with the dogs at Greenhill because "it is a great feeling to help these dogs find a new home where they will be loved."  Alex is mom to her golden retriever Sami, along with cats Milo & Toby. In her spare time you'll find Alex outdoors hiking, camping and rockclimbing!  

Megan Johnson, Animal Care Technician, Kennel

An Oregon native from Grants Pass, Megan first started at Greenhill as a volunteer, and realized she loved being around the dogs in the kennel so much, she pursued a position in the kennel full time.  "I love bonding with the variety of dogs we see here each week."  Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her Greenhill Graduate Pearl-a Redbone Coonhound Hound mix.  Her hobbies include hiking, reading and cooking.

Kaitlyn Worman, Animal Care Technician, Kennel

Kaitlyn divides her time between her kennel duties at Greenhill and her Pre-Med studies at Lane Community College. As a kennel technician, she enjoys assisting the dogs in their transitions into forever homes and making their stay at Greenhill as stress-free as possible. Kaitlyn shares her home with Sonny-a Shetland Sheepdog, Odie-a Pomeranian, Noelle-a Border Collie and Subi the cat. Outside of Greenhill she enjoys running, cooking, reading, agility training, music and writing.
 

Ginny Johnson, Cattery Manager

Ginny has been with Greenhill since January of 2005. She oversees the cattery staff, as well as the intake, housing and care of all the felines that enter the shelter. “Being surrounded by animals is the best part of my job,” says Ginny, “and working with people who care about them as much as I do.” Ginny and her husband Kevin have three cats named Prudence, Schuyler and George, and a pug named Nala.
 

Tara Rasheed, Animal Care Technician, Cattery

A Eugene native, Tara was a volunteer at Greenhill before joining our staff. She aspires to become a veterinarian assistant or a veterinarian technician. Tara lives with two pets, a mini doxie named Angel Eyes and a siamese cat named Meow. In her free time you can usually find Tara relaxing at home with her 3 year old son Tristan and her pets. 

 

Darla Killian, Animal Care Technician, Cattery

Darla has been taking care of the cats at Greenhill for almost three years. Her favorite part of her job is making all of the homeless cats at the shelter feel loved and wanted. Darla has her own zoo at home with 12 cats and 4 dogs. 
 

Hannah Darrow, Animal Care Technician, Cattery 

Before joining Greenhill, Hannah worked for The Veterinary Hospital, volunteered at Redlands Animal Control in California and raised rescue kittens at home. Now that she’s with us she enjoys the hands-on experience she’s gaining as part of the cattery team. Her family includes 2 rescued kitties (one a Greenhill Grad) and a beta fish. Outside GHS she rides horses, skis and sails.
