14th annual Spay Day
the biggest yet!

Veterinarians are currently in the process of altering more than 600 pets as part of Spay Day 2008.

Greenhill has allocated $30,000 to perform free spay/neuter surgeries for low-income residents of Lane County. That is the largest sum of money ever set aside for the free spay and neuter program in the shelter’s history. That is up from $20,000 used last year to fix 450 cats and almost 90 dogs.

For three days in December, Greenhill opened a hotline for those needing financial assistance to alter their pets. As a result, 530 cats and 98 dogs were scheduled for free surgeries.

Spay Day USA is a nationwide campaign held every February. However, Greenhill got a head start this year by opening its hotlines months earlier in order to schedule and complete surgeries before kitten season, which begins in April.

Donations to offset the cost of providing this free service would be greatly appreciated.
