Working at Greenhill Humane Society

Greenhill Humane Society is a life-saving organization, where animals are safe and well cared for; where all life is affirmed and respected. We provide compassionate care for animals, support for the community, and education to promote the humane treatment of animals. For the past 13 years, we have successfully saved over 90% of the animals who have come into our care.

We operate the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area with programs including animal adoptions, reuniting lost animals with their families, crisis care boarding, spay/neuter for free-roaming cats, humane education and volunteer and foster care opportunities. Greenhill Humane Society is open to the public 7 days a week.

In 2019, we combined our two shelter locations into one campus, creating a new state-of-the-art shelter and animal care facility which includes stress-reducing dog housing with larger, more comfortable spaces for the dogs and plenty of natural light. The expanded cat adoption area has more rooms for cats including outdoor “catios” and the small animals received an updated, large area to relax and roam in.

Employee Benefits

Greenhill Humane Society offers a competitive employment package that is so much more than kitten cuddles and puppy kisses (but we have those too)!

We offer health insurance (including vision and dental), paid time off, paid sick leave, a matching SIMPLE IRA retirement fund, an EAP (Employee Assistance Program), pet food discounts and veterinary medical care discounts.

Greenhill is committed to eco-friendly practices too!  Our new buildings and remodeled areas have many green features that benefit the animals in our care, the humans that work within these buildings, and our environment including: a Vegetative Wastewater Treatment Area (the first of its kind in Oregon) to protect the local wetlands; the use of up-cycled materials; landscaping made up of drought-resistant and native plants; energy efficiency heating/cooling systems; and onsite recycling.

Greenhill is frequently recognized as an excellent place to work
