This Friday, November 10th at 6:30pm, animal lovers and art enthusiasts will come together to support Lane County’s oldest and largest non-profit animal shelter, Greenhill Humane Society.

The event will feature a live performance by internationally acclaimed musician, Halie Loren, catering by Party Downtown, and local beer and wine by Ninkasi and Oregon Wine LAB.  Attendees will have the opportunity to view and bid on auction items including art, travel experiences and gift certificates to local businesses.  Celebrity emcees Bill Barrett and Tim Fox of KKNU will help lead the event in one of Eugene’s most unique event spaces Ninkasi’s admin building.

The auction will feature over 200 pieces of original art including pieces by local artists such as Frank Moro, Abbas Darabi, Robert Canaga, Tallmadge Doyle, and Rogene Manas.  Items include one-of-a-kind jewelry, handmade pottery, glass sculptures, paintings, and furniture.

New this year – Greenhill has added mobile bidding and an online auction.  Mobile bidding is a revolutionary new paperless bidding method that allows participants to bid straight from their phones.  This year, every item donated is featured online, and participants can bid at the event or from the comfort of their couch, enabling bidders to win more items to help more animals!

Funds raised at Art for Animals help Greenhill Humane Society ensure continued safe shelter, medical care, healthy food, behavior training and adoption services for approximately 3,000 lost, abandoned, surrendered, neglected or abused pets in need of help each year.

“We’re moving into colder weather, a time of year when so many animals are abandoned and in need of safe shelter.  Now more than ever Greenhill needs support,” says Sasha Elliott, Greenhill spokesperson.  “Art for Animals is an opportunity for people to come together and show they care about animals in our community. Pre-holiday shopping, while listening to live music and enjoying some of the best food, beer and wine Eugene has to offer, is a fantastic way to show support for animals in need.”
