Greenhill Humane Society Partners with the Humane Society of the United States and FOOD for Lane County to Distribute Pet Food & Supplies

Over 3,000 pounds of supplies donated & dispersed throughout Lane County for community members

Eugene, OR – (April 9, 2020) –During times of crisis, like the one the world is now facing, Greenhill Humane Society, the Humane Society of the United States and FOOD for Lane County are the first responders for animals and people in need throughout Lane County. Greenhill Humane Society has received a generous grant from the Humane Society of the United States to purchase pet food and supplies for its community pet food and supply bank. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the shelter has seen an increased need to support families with pets. Greenhill is working with FOOD for Lane Country to distribute the food and supplies to food pantries throughout Lane County where it is needed most. On Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. Greenhill Humane Society will be dropping off over 3,000 pounds of pet food at FOOD for Lane County at 2345 W Broadway, Eugene, OR 97402.

“The animals need our help more than ever now,” says Greenhill’s Executive Director, Cary Lieberman. “As our community continues to deal with the impacts of COVID-19, the staff at Greenhill remain committed to ensuring that the animals in our shelter and in the community have no gap in care. Partnering with the Humane Society of the United States and FOOD for Lane County ensures we can help more people and animals in our area.”

“The bond people have with their pets is more important now than ever,” said Kelly Peterson, Oregon state director for the Humane Society of the United States. “That’s why we’re happy to support the efforts of Greenhill Humane Society: to ensure that entire families can stay together, rather than risk their pet being separated or surrendered during this unimaginable crisis.”

Community members who need extra support to feed or care for their pet can find the supplies at Greenhill Humane Society or a local FOOD for Lane County Pantry. To find the nearest food pantry, visit www.foodforlanecounty.org.

Donors who would like to donate to Greenhill’s pet food bank can drop donations off at Greenhill during regular business hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monetary donations are appreciated which can be made online or by calling the shelter at 541-689-1503.
