EUGENE, OREGON – (June 9, 2023) – Greenhill Humane Society is honored to be among Oregon Business Magazine’s “2023 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon.” Greenhill placed ninety-ninth with a score of 237.59.

“We are thrilled to be mentioned alongside other sustainable organizations in Oregon for our part in creating an environmentally conscious workplace. We recognize the importance of reducing our environmental footprint while learning about and adopting more sustainable practices,” said Sarah Bouzad, Greenhill’s Community Engagement & Events Manager.

The list of the 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon showcases companies and nonprofits whose employees anonymously rate their employers’ sustainability efforts highly. The workplaces on the list have made measurable efforts to reduce their environmental footprint and adopt more sustainable practices.

Greenhill Humane Society has made improvements to the facilities and operations to address environmental sustainability and improve workplace policies. In 2019, the shelter underwent an extensive remodel and expansion to incorporate extensive daylighting and energy efficient LED light fixtures, a heating system designed to incorporate passive zones and heat recapture, and wastewater filtration onsite using plants. Greenhill has transitioned much of its activities to paperless processes. Additionally, Greenhill places an emphasis on recycling with easy options to recycle throughout the shelter and strives to purchase items in bulk to minimize trips and reduce packaging.
